An Uptown Soiree, at Harlem Haberdashery this past Saturday

This past weekend New York City was buzzing with the theme, “spring is in the air”.  Without a doubt, the atmosphere was set and events were in full effect throughout the city.

I chose to spend my Saturday afternoon attending, the Women’s History Month Uptown Grrrl Soiree Celebrating the achievements of Harlem Women hosted by & 5001 Flavors.  The event was held Saturday, March 30, 2013, at Harlem Haberdashery, a charming boutique located in Uptown Manhattan.  Guest had an opportunity to mingle with others, in an array of industries, and sip refreshing cocktails mixed with SVEDKA Vodka.

The purpose of the event was to honor three women of Harlem, Alyah Horsford-Sidberry, Owner, Cove Lounge; Shola Lynch, Director, “Free Angela & All Political Prisoners”; and Sharene Wood, Owner, Harlem Haberdashery & 5001 Flavors.

Before making my exit I had a moment to speak with Louis Johnson, Image Consultant and Designer of 5001 Flavors.  I immediately fell in love with the Onesie he was wearing and custom designed.  Mr. Johnson, noted that the overall inspiration behind his designs are to create pieces that are exclusive and that aren’t available anywhere else in the world.

As guests left the boutique, they were given a thank-you-bag filled with gifts from Miss Jessie’s and Uptown Magazine.
