Can you believe that the summer season is winding down? I know where did it go?
After summer must come fall! And the fall season is slowly creeping up on us; its almost time to start re-vamping our wardrobes. Its time to start thinking knits, boots, and layers. So today I want to know what are some of the pieces you have on your radar for Fall 2013. Have you seen a pair of boots, a jacket, or handbag that you can’t wait to get your hands on (or maybe you already have)?

Back in April of this year, I attended the 4th Annual Fashion 500 event hosted by The Block Association, one of NYC premier event planning groups. The event took place on a Sunday afternoon and was hosted at the Rivington Hotel on the Lower East Side. Many guest sat and had brunch, while others threw back cocktails, and enjoyed the music being projected from the speakers. I did a little bit of both.
Well, upon my arrival I was stopped by a freelance photographer from Essence Magazine, she said she wanted to take a picture of me for their Street Style section. So, today on Throw Back Thursday (#tbt). I would like to share the picture.

I recently did a quick on camera interview for an up and coming shows pilot, the show will be about fashion and relationships. If the show gets picked up by a major network then you may be able to hear all the questions that were asked. (I will be sure to share) One of the questions that were asked was my secret to getting dressed. When I answered the question, my immediate answer was dress comfortable. Although, most of the time I don’t give it much thought. I get dressed differently all the time. I don’t have one look, a favorite color, or a favorite silhouette…My style is always changing. So, I guess my answer would vary depending on the day, the week, the moment, and so on.
So, as I re-think the question. I would say that simplicity is the key. I know everyone has their own ideas as to what the word simple means but I would say don’t try too hard. The way you dress should be an expression of who you are not the other way around. Oh and don’t forget to have fun!!
What’s your secret?
I’m sure we’ve all been in a position where we were shopping, came across the perfect dress, and then the doubt kicks in. Maybe this isn’t a dress…I think its a top. Well see what our favorite fashion consultant, Tim Gunn has to say about it below.
If you’ve faced this dilemma, after finding out the dress was a top, did you still wear it as a dress?
Yesterday was my birthday and despite the rainy day, I enjoyed myself. I met up with a small group of friends and caught up over a birthday toast. Which was quite enjoyable.
Choosing where to host the gathering was not an easy task and at the same time choosing what to wear was not a walk in the park either. But they were both accomplished in the nick of time.
So, what did I wear?
While hunting for my birthday dress I bought and returned a total of three dresses. I couldn’t seem to find what I was looking for and what I was looking for needed to give me the “OH THIS IS IT” effect. Then all of the sudden, I found this little number below. It reminded me of a Greek Goddess. I loved the elegance and simplicity of it, so this had to be the dress. The red patent leather pumps shown are by Steve Madden. Lipstick is MAC Matte Lipstick shade Lady Danger. Check out my pics below.
